After a wonderful Saturday with my family at the pumpkin patch and a casual evening eating cake and watching Pootie Tang on Netflix, Sunday I woke up feeling a bit off. My stomach was sore, not sore like I had just worked out, but tender like I had eaten an entire ham by myself and my stomach had stretched to hold it. I figured maybe I had just eaten too much the day before and went about my day. Nick and I went to church, then afterwards we ate Chinese food and walked around the mall looking at Fall decor, shoes, and whatever I felt like looking at. We picked up two awesome smelling candles at Bath and Body Works, then before heading home I got a pumpkin spice latte.
As the afternoon progressed, I started feeling nauseous. At first I thought it might be indigestion because I get that pretty often, but when I started getting worse I quickly realized something was seriously wrong. We ruled out a virus because I didn’t have fever, so the only other explanation (that fit my symptoms) was food poisoning. I’ve never had food poisoning in my entire life and let me tell you, I never want to deal with it again. I stayed on the couch all afternoon and watched Gossip Girl and Insidious. Around 8:30 p.m. Nick went out to pick up some medicine for me and after taking it I passed out for about 2 hours. Monday I only worked half a day because I was exhausted and weak from not being able to eat or keep anything down on Sunday. I’m feeling better now but I’m not 100% yet. Every time I eat I still feel a little tinge of uneasiness and my stomach is still tender. Today was the first day I was able to drink my coffee again, and even so, I think I’m probably just going to switch over to a decaf herbal tea. The coffee and cream is just too rich and heavy.
This week I’ve just been taking it easy and recovering. The temperature has cooled off a little again so I’ve been coming home, putting on comfy clothes and lounging on the couch. I just haven’t had the energy to do much else. Thank goodness it’s Wednesday and this week is halfway over. It’s been a rough one and I’m ready for the weekend.
*As a side note, I know the picture above has absolutely nothing to do with this post, but it was so cute I had to share. That’s Buster, the youngest of our two cats. He’s a goofball to say the least, but he also loves to snuggle.*
